Richard has been in the income tax industry since 1976 and planning since 1988. And while that kind of experience comes in handy when working with clients, it’s not his only set of skills.
A graduate of the esteemed Illinois Institute of Technology, Richard started out teaching chemistry, but found himself educating financial clients when working part-time with his parents’ tax and accounting practice in 1976.
"We have a very strong educational background," he says. "I started out teaching high school in Chicago, and I believe that knowledge is power and that people really need to understand as much as they can about their own circumstances, so we do a lot of educational seminars. Teaching helps in organizing thoughts and concepts into smaller pieces that people can more easily grasp and understand," he adds. When not explaining investments or financial strategy to clients, Richard can be found teaching professional courses to Certified Financial Planner™ students for the College for Financial Planning through DePaul University.
Richard has many honors to go with his experience. He is on the Harper College Educational Foundation Board for Harper College in Palatine, IL. Formerly he was President of Tax Practitioners of Illinois, and served three years on the board of directors at the National Society of Tax Practitioners.
When he’s not working, Richard is a self-professed "rockhound," combining his loves of travel and geology in search of crystals, fossils, and other interesting geological formations.
Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, he graduated from IIT with a degree in chemistry. In 1984 he earned the coveted title of Enrolled Agent (EA) -- meaning that he has earned the privilege of practicing before the IRS.
